GBRT Orchestra

Performing a range of classical works and folk songs, the GBRT Orchestra is open to instrumentalists of all ages, and new members are always welcome.

 

Musical Director: Kathryn Cartwright

Kathryn works as a freelance, solo, chamber and orchestral flautist and has performed at numerous venues throughout the UK and abroad.  To date she has performed extensively in the UK and in Ireland, France, Norway, Germany, Hong Kong, Thailand and Australia.

Her orchestral work has included: Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra, English National Opera, Birmingham Royal Ballet, New London Sinfonietta, West London Opera and various West End Shows. Kathryn’s Chamber work includes playing with the Luxembourg Chamber Orchestra, Collegiate Wind Ensemble, The Bergamot Ensemble and the Washburn Trio.  Other solo work includes performing and recording new works for composers including Cecelia McDowall, Kit Turnbull, Nigel Clark, Paul Max Edlin and Roxanna Panufnik. She has performed on BBC Radio 3, NRK Klassisk (Norway) and BBC Hereford and Worcester.

Kathryn enjoys a balanced life of performing, adjudicating, teaching flute and voice, running large ensembles and travels extensively as both an orchestral musician and as a senior examiner for Trinity College London.

 

Booking GBRT Orchestra

If you would like to book the GBRT Orchestra for an event, simply send us an email with the date, time, duration and brief description of the event that you would the group for and we will contact you to discuss the details.

Who?

Open to instrumentalists of all ages, whether school age or adult, you simply need to be able to read music fluently and be of a minimum Grade 4 standard on one of the following instruments:

Percussion:    

Piano, Tuned Percussion

Strings:    

Violins, Violas, Cellos, Double Basses

Woodwind:    

Flutes(Piccolo), Clarinets, Oboes (Cor Anglais), Bassoons

Brass:    

Trumpets, French Horns, Trombones, Tuba

When And Where?

Second and fourth Tuesdays of the month, in term time, from 7.30pm to 9.30pm in the Main Hall at Meadowdale Primary School, Meadowdale Road, Market Harborough.

What Does It Cost?

Full-time students £30 per term / Adults £35 per term which includes venue hire, tuition and refreshments.

Please use the bank details on the Rehearsal Dates Schedule above to set-up a Standing Order into the GBRT account on the dates specified.
